Vice President of Customer Engagement
As Vice President of Customer Engagement, John (Jack) Williams serves NewWave’s customers by fostering ongoing awareness of the team’s capabilities within the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). He ensures that the delivery of NewWave’s services are creative and that innovative strategies are presented, leveraging NewWave successes. Jack’s understanding of and real life experience in the Healthcare industry allows him to provide ongoing consultation and guidance to exceed customer needs.
Prior to joining NewWave, Jack spent the last 27 years of his federal career at CMS. His most recent position was Director of the Division of Quality Systems for Assessments and Surveys (DQSAS) in the Information Systems Group (ISG) of the Center for Clinical Standards and Quality (CCSQ). At CMS, Jack managed the operations supporting significant Medicare investments, including the Survey and Certification (S&C) program, the Post-Acute Care Quality program, and the Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) program, as well as, various quality and public reporting mandates as required under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), Public Health Service Act, Omnibus Budget and Reconciliation Act (OBRA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Medicare Modernization Act (MMA), and the Improving Medicare Post-Acute Care Transformation (IMPACT) Act legislations.
One of Jack’s most significant accomplishments was modernizing and replacing the S&C Online Survey Certification and Reporting (OSCAR)/Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act (CLIA) system with the state-of-the-art Quality Improvement and Evaluation System (QIES). QIES not only supports the S&C program; it integrates Medicare and Medicaid compliance of health and safety standards by laboratories and acute and continuing care providers with the care they provide to beneficiaries. QIES is a sub-system to the Health Care Quality Information System (HCQIS) and manages all the reporting requirements for CMS, State Survey Agencies, Accrediting Organizations, CLIA, and other users of the data, such as, the Social Security Administration, Veterans Affairs, Centers for Disease Control, Quality Innovation Network-Quality Improvement Organizations, the General Accounting Office, the Office of the Inspector General, beneficiaries, consumers, and researchers.
Jack holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of Baltimore.
