NewWave Awarded Five-Year Recompete to Provide CMS with Centralized Data Abstraction Tool
Elkridge, MD, May 6, 2021 – NewWave, a full-service Information Technology (IT), business services, and data management company, today announced the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) has awarded NewWave a $24M contract recompete to continue overseeing the Central Data Abstraction Tool (CDAT) which automates the flow of the CMS Risk Adjustment Data Validation (RADV) program and tracks all medical record requests sent to Medicare Advantage (MA) organizations.
“As a long-standing Systems Integrator for CMS, NewWave is excited for the opportunity to continue supporting CMS and the RADV program through CDAT,” says Cathy Mueller, NewWave Vice President of Program Delivery. “We look forward to building on our previous experience with CDAT to strengthen the RADV process.”
Bringing over 15 years of experience supporting the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, NewWave has managed the operations and maintenance of the CMS RADV Program and CDAT for the last 8 years. As part of NewWave’s innovation for RADV and CDAT, NewWave led the modernization of CDAT systems architecture to the Microsoft Azure for Government Cloud, completely redesigning the application as cloud-native to improve efficiency, security, and tracing collaboration between coders to track data for medical record requests.
“The goal of the RADV audit is to protect Medicare beneficiaries and ensure data quality codes are verified so proper payments are delivered to Medicare Advantage Organizations,” says Debbie Phelps, RADV Project Manager. “At NewWave, we are committed to empowering organizations to improve their data quality and we are always looking for innovative ways to bring human-centered design practices to our solutions. This opportunity to continue supporting CDAT is simply the next step in our work to support proper Medicare Risk Adjustment and improved data quality practices.”
